Checklist for 11th Grade Cardinals
[What can you do?]
1. Start narrowing and solidifying your next step ideas.
- Try to think about compiling a list of about 3-5 schools.(AND LOOK OVER THEIR ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS!)
- Look at their applications and what all you will need to complete it.
- Don't be afraid of reaching out to college admissions offices! (They appreciate initiative!)
- If college is not what you want to do, have some idea of what you want to do.
2. Take those tests!
- Begin preparing for the spring ACT (usually scheduled during the first week of March)-- ALL juniors in the state of North Carolina have the opportunity to take the ACT for free at school during the spring. Take this test seriously, it can help when you get ready to apply for schools.
- Take the SAT! The best time to take it is November, December, January and May!
- Make sure you keep up with the SAT/ACT test prep opportunities!
3. Stay on track!
- Junior year can often be a difficult time, so make sure you are preparing yourself to keep your grades together!
- Continue to be sure that you are taking courses that are gonna challenge you to learn! (And that you are staying focused in them!)
- Reach out to your guidance counselors! (They are here to make sure you stay on track and graduate!)
[What can the adviser do to help?]
1. Ask me about fee waivers for the tests!!! (I have plenty for those who qualify for them!/Ask me who qualifies)
