Checklist for 12th Grade Cardinals
[What can you do?]
1. Come into Senior year motivated and excited for your next step!
- I know senioritis is real, but stay focused and hype throughout the school year so you can keep your grades up!
- Start getting your applications together and working on them! Many of them will be available starting the summer up until early September. (Waiting until the last minute WILL HURT!)
- Meet with your counselor to make sure you are taking the right classes! (No one wants ANY surprises when it's time to fly out of the nest.)
- WATCH OUT FOR DEADLINES!!! COLLEGES WILL NOT TAKE YOUR APPLICATION IF IT IS LATE! THEY KNOW THEY GIVE AMPLE TIME TO COMPLETE THEM!
2. Take them tests!!!
- October is prime time for seniors to take the SAT and ACT!
- Don't forget that even though these tests are important, they do not solely determine whether a school will accept you! (Like i said, they want well-rounded students!)
- Watch out for deadlines!!! (There are fees that are associated with certain tests so be mindful AND REGISTER EARLY!)
3. SCHOLARSHIPS, SCHOLARSHIPS, SCHOLARSHIPS!
- FILL OUT YOUR FAFSA! It will help you determine the likelihood of you receiving aid from the school!!
- Fill out as many scholarships as possible! You can NEVER have too much money for college!
- Some schools have scholarships specifically for their school so look up ones for the places you apply especially!
- Watch out for deadlines!!! (They will be on the application so don't wait until the last minute!! THEY DON'T MAKE EXCEPTIONS!)
[What can the adviser do to help?]
1. Ask me about college representative visits!
2. Ask me about college tours!
3. ASK ME ABOUT FEE WAIVERS!!!! (I HAVE PLENTY FOR THOSE THAT NEED THEM!)
4. Ask me about scholarships! (AND CHECK OUT THE SCHOLARSHIP TAB!)
